Natalie Cull and Mark Spragg were last week arrested by Malvern officers and charged with multiple shoplifting offences. Cull was sentenced the following day where her 8 week suspended sentence was extended to an 18 month suspended sentence and was served with a supervision order for 18 months.
Spragg was remanded in custody until 7th of December where he was then served with a 36 week imprisonment with 3 further offences still to be heard in late January.
Cull and Spragg have been a two person crime wave across the Malvern area for a number of months. They have been arrested a number of times recently and each time continued to commit shoplifting offences after being released from court.
The custodial sentence for Spragg is a great result and sends out a message to thieves, we take shoplifting offences seriously and it evidences that the courts will enforce custodial sentences to repeat offenders.
The 18 month suspended sentence and supervision order issued to Cull will hopefully act as a deterrent to her offending behaviour and also means a likely custodial sentence if she does commit any further offences in that time.
With the run up to Christmas and the increase in reports of thefts from retail premises, Malvern safer neighbourhood teams are conducting regular patrols and operations around the shops in the Malvern area.
