SPEEDING & SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT CHURCH STRETTON SCHOOL

Ladies and Gents,

PCSO Darren Barnett and I were out on our pedal cycles today and stopped by the Church Stretton school after reports of speeding causing a local concern.  In the 30 minute monitoring session at the 30mph zone, we checked 24 vehicles with an average of 27.6mph.  There were three speeders caught at 40, 40 and 37.  All three were local to the town and quite frankly should have known better given that this is a local concern.  However, they were dealt with appropriately and i'm sure their behaviour around speeding has changed.  We will be back soon.

Your neighbourhood team are passionate about protecting you from harm and although some may believe there are better things to do with police time, I cannot think of a single thing better than reducing death and serious injury by effective speed enforcement. We of course do more than this and I really welcome your thoughts around what you would like us to work on in the area.

Furthermore, we returned to the school after a high visibility patrol due to a concerned member of the public who observed a male taking photographs outside of the school.  We have spoken to this male and checked the device and he was taking photographs of flowers as a keen enthusiast.  No individuals were present in any photograph on the devices he had so I can reassure the community that this is of no risk.  I thank the member of the public for reporting suspicious behaviour.  It is this supportive, neighbourly spirit that keeps us safe. Thank you.

That's all from me today.  I hope you have a wonderful week and you'll hear from us again soon.

Damien
