Local vehicle crime.

Unfortunately in the Hollinswood and Randlay area we are receiving reports of a number of vehicle crimes. They seem very opportunist but we are asking people to remain vigilant and to keep valuables out of sight. If you see any acting suspicious in the area then please report it to us so we can take positive action, it might be nothing but it is always best to check. Below are some tips on preventing vehicle crime:

You can help prevent opportunist thieves from striking by following these tips:

Park somewhere safe- a garage or a well lit street.

Reduce the risk of theft- use alarms, immobilisers and locking devices.

Obvious targets such as laptops, SatNavs, dash cams should be removed if possible.

Take valuables with you- handbags, phones, CDs and even loose change can be valuable to a would be thief.

Every time you leave the car, lock the doors and close the windows.

Car keys should never be left in the ignition if you are away from your car.

Thieves will also enter a house to steal car keys. Keep your keys away from easily accessible areas in the home such as window sills and doors.

If you have any information regarding recent crimes then please contact your local policing team. Or report anything online via our website www.westmercia.police.uk
