Business Watch

Through Business Watch, local businesses work together with the police and other partner agencies to reduce crime and help to keep businesses safe. Membership is free.

Several thousand businesses and tradespeople have joined. Members receive messages, alerts, appeals and crime prevention advice from their local policing team and from police business crime specialists by email or text.

Members are encouraged to share information and watch out for each other to help to keep their business, premises, property and neighbouring businesses safe.

Business Watch:

  • promotes a safe and crime-free environment for businesses

  • creates links with local policing teams

  • brings local businesses together to prevent and solve crime

  • raises awareness of local crime issues affecting businesses and how to tackle them

  • supports businesses to combat fraud and cyber crime

  • encourages the sharing of information

  • How do I join?

If you think you may benefit from a Business Watch scheme or would like to know more information, please contact us, or your local Safer Neighbourhoods Team.

If you are already part of a Business Watch or similar scheme, your group can join Neighbourhood Matters as an already existing group and receive the same benefits as a scheme that has been set up through a Safer Neighbourhoods Team.

By joining your local Business Watch scheme, you will receive:

  • tailored police alert messages via Neighbourhood Matters about issues that may affect or be of interest to those who live or work in rural areas. You can reply directly to your Safer Neighbourhoods Team

  • face-to-face support and advice from your local Safer Neighbourhoods Team in relation to your scheme

  • marketing packs which include scheme branded materials to raise awareness of your scheme
