PCC comments on national report into policing

PCC comments on national report into policing

An annual assessment into the State of Policing in 2023 has been published by His Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Constabulary.

The report covers where improvements need to be made to ensure policing effectively rebuilds confidence and meets the needs of local communities.

PCC John Campion said: “As PCC, I am accountable for the totality of policing in West Mercia and welcome the views from the H.M. Chief Inspector.

“The report rightly focuses on the changes that need to take place to ensure the public receives a service they expect and deserve.

“I have recently been re-elected on a mandate of cutting crime, supporting victims and putting policing at the heart of communities.

“The findings within the report builds on my priorities and highlights the changes the system must deliver to meet the public’s expectations.

“It’s clear that policing across the country faces challenges, but I am confident these will be overcome by ensuring the system is set up to succeed.

“I look forward to working closely with the Chief Constable, Government and local MPs to ensure the voices of all communities in West Mercia are heard, listened to and acted on.”
