With the summer holidays now here here is some advice on wheelie bins. 

If you are away, ask a friend or neighbour to help you with bin day. Ask if they can take it out and return it as soon as they can.

Make sure your wheelie bin is out of sight of burglars.

Store or secure it away until collection day.

Wheelie bins can be used in the following ways by burglars:
• A climbing aid to gain access to your property.
• An indicator as to whether you are home.
• A removal aid to take the items away that they have stolen.
• To find out information about you that you may not have destroyed.
• To start small fires.
