Electric Scooter Seized in Bromsgrove
Today, officers seized an electric scooter being ridden illegally on the public roads. We’d like to remind the public of the laws surrounding e-scooters and offer advice to those considering using them.
The Law on E-Scooters: - E-scooters are classified as motor vehicles under the Road Traffic Act. This means they must adhere to the same regulations as cars or motorbikes. - Insurance, tax, and MOT are required to ride e-scooters on public roads. - It’s illegal to ride privately owned e-scooters on public roads, pavements, or cycle paths. - Public use is only allowed on rented e-scooters as part of government-approved trial schemes.
What This Means for You: - If you own an e-scooter, you can only legally ride it on private land with the landowner’s permission. - Riding on public highways or pavements could result in your scooter being seized, fines, or penalty points.
Please stay informed, stay safe, and know the rules before using an e-scooter.
