Keeping a vehicle on the road, can be expensive. Paying road fund licence (road tax) is part of the running costs of modern motoring. However there are some people who don’t tax their vehicle whether they are motor traders or just avoiding it. The rules for a motor trader state they can use trade plates to move an untaxed vehicle from A to B or for test rides, they are not a replacement for taxing the car. Often cars are abandoned, untaxed and a hazard. To statatory off road notification (SORN ) the car must be off the road! The DVLA will often clamp and seize untaxed vehicles, we are also required to assist DVLA and seize untaxed cars. I often find this leads to confrontation! As well as police and DVLA the local authority Telford and Wrekin Council can deal with abandoned vehicles via the mytelford App. For those who don't tax MOT and insure their vehicle, please remember that the majority do.
