Man arrested as police warrant uncovers cannabis grow

A man has been arrested after Worcester Police executed a drugs warrant at an address in the city this morning (Monday 2 December).

Officers from the South Worcestershire Neighbourhood Crime Fighting Team (NCFT) gained entry to an address on Teme Road, Worcester.

Inside they found 189 plants at various stages of growth as well as those being dried before they were set for illegal drug sales.

A man at the address, aged 22, was arrested on suspicion of production of cannabis and is in police custody as enquiries continue.

A spokesperson for NCFT said: “This morning, officers from the NCFT executed a drugs warrant at an address in Teme Road, Worcester following community concerns about the cultivation of cannabis.

“Upon entering the property, we found 189 plants at various stages of growth, including some being prepared for sale, which will now be destroyed as we continue our ongoing campaign to tackle illegal drug cultivation in the south of the county.

“Cannabis grows are often tied to organised crime groups, whose activities fuel further criminality, including modern slavery. Tackling these operations is vital to protecting our communities and keeping them safe from harm.”

Anyone who believes there may be an illegal grow or criminal activity in their community is urged to report it to us via our website Report a crime | West Mercia Police. Always call 999 in an emergency.
