Enforcing the drink and drug drive law is a year round activity for us across Herefordshire, Shropshire & Worcestershire.
However, throughout December, we will be supporting Op Limit, the national operation targeting motorists who are driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The effect alcohol and drugs have on our roads is devastating, destroying lives and families. There have been 25 fatalities and 167 serious injuries following collisions across our three counties in the past three years where alcohol has been a factor, while an additional 11 fatalities and 68 serious injuries involved drugs.
Last December, 266 people were arrested for being over the limit whilst behind the wheel. If caught over the limit, motorists face six months in prison, an unlimited fine and a ban from driving for at least one year (three years if convicted twice in 10 years).
Enforcement takes place 24/7. Don’t risk it!
