Vehicle Nuisance - Oldbury Park

Good afternoon Resident,

We have recently received reports of off-road motorbikes being used in and around Dines Green and St. John's, including Oldbury Road field, Howard Road field and through footpaths up to both Rushwick and Lowerwick, often without helmets.

Off-road bikes are just that, for use off road. They are not permitted for use on public highways as they would require registration, insurance and MOT etc. They are designed to be used off road in designated spaces and on private land. Bikes of this sort that are found being used on the highway will be seized, with very little chance of the owner being able to claim the bike back. Riders will also be liable for fines and other penalties relating to insurance/license offences etc.

One of these bikes has already been seized from Dines Green in November and will not be returned to the person who was misusing it.

We understand both the nuisance caused and dangers that these off-road bikes can cause to both pedestrians and other road users, and are working to tackle the problem.

We would like to hear from those who witness these bikes being used in public places, in particular, where it is possible to identify the rider.

You can contact us on 101 or 999 as appropriate. If you wish to provide us with information anonymously, CrimeStoppers is an independent UK charity with whom you can submit reports here or call on 0800 555 111 and remain completely anonymous.

Many thanks,

PCSO Dave Clee
