E-Scooters

South Shropshire SNT regularly receive complaints regarding E-Scooters being ridden on the roads and pavements of our local towns and villages.

Although e-scooters are legal to buy, they are currently illegal to use on public roads, pavements, cycle lanes and pedestrian-only areas unless part of an approved trial. However, there are no trials taking place anywhere in Shropshire.

E-scooters responsible for an increasing number of fatalities and serious injuries across the UK and we will continue to educate riders and enforcing the law more formally when required.

Over the last couple of weeks I have spoken to and warned 3 people who I have stopped while riding their scooters in Craven Arms and also 1 person in Church Stretton. All were educated on the law regarding e-scooters and all were given clear advice that if they were stopped riding the e-scooter again then it would be seized and prosecution considered.
