Quad bike search puts officers on scent of cannabis find


Police who were on the trail of a stolen quad bike were soon on the scent of another crime when they found cannabis hidden in the wheel arch of van parked nearby.

Officers from the South Worcestershire Neighbourhood Crime Fighting Team (NCFT) went to an address in Eckington Road, Eckington tracking a car linked to the stolen bike.

They arrested a 17-year-old male at the location on suspicion of stealing a car who has since been charged and bailed to reappear at Worcester Magistrates Court on 29 January.

The youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is charged with driving a motor vehicle dangerously, driving other than in accordance with a licence, failing to stop a mechanically propelled vehicle when required by a constable, driving on a road a motor vehicle whilst not wearing a seat belt, using a motor vehicle on a road / public place without third party insurance and driving a vehicle with no rear registration plate.

While in the area, NCFT followed their noses to another vehicle not linked to the arrest where they found a substantial amount of cannabis packed in a bag which was hidden in the rear wheel arch of a Transit van.

The drugs were removed and destroyed.
