Good afternoon Resident,
During the early hours of Thursday 13th February, there were several attempted thefts of cabling from tethered electric vehicle (EV) chargers, on The Grove estate, off University Park Drive, in St. John's, Worcester. It is believed that an unknown male, appearing to be working on his own, has removed or tried to remove the tethers from a number of EV chargers, potentially causing damage to both the chargers themselves and/or the vehicles that would have been charging at the time. As your Safer Neighbourhood Team, we will endeavour to continue to patrol the area as and when we are able. If you have any CCTV relating to these incidents that may help us to identify and offender, I would like to hear from you. Previous to this a number of EV charge tethers were removed and stolen from a Worcester University car park in January, causing a significant amount of damage. If you have an untethered charger, where the cable is not integrated into the charge point, it would be sensible to not leave the cable attached when not in use, where it may be vulnerable to being attacked. If you become aware of further incidents, please contact us as appropriate, via the West Mercia Police website or tel. 101, in the event that you witness a theft happening at the time, please contact us on 999.
Kind regards, | ||||
