Unexploded Bomb - TERNHILL


On Wednesday 19th February 2025, officers from C and B shift response received a report of a unexploded unidentified object that was located on an industrial estate in TERNHILL.

 

Upon arrival PC 22115 BARNES, PC 22990 BASKEYFIELD and PS 21217 PUGH from C shift response, have identified the object and have placed, 100 meter cordon for public and staff safety.

 

Officers from C shift have also evacuated the surrounding buildings within the 100 meter cordon.

 

PS 21840 JUDD, PC 22719 KINSEY and PC 22738 HIGGS, from B shift response were also in attendance, EOD arrived and took control of the scene whilst officers contained the cordon.

 

EOD identified the unexploded unidentified object as a unexploded “mortar round” from approximately 1920s.

 

The mortar round was placed in a secure location where sandbags, have been placed on top for a contained explosion where PS JUDD did the honors of detonating the mortar and making the scene safe!
