Two men arrested on suspicion of drug dealing

Two men were arrested on suspicion of drug dealing yesterday (Thursday 20 February) after officers from Hereford CID swooped on a street in the city.

Detectives pulled up behind a van on Eastnor Drive at 2.50pm acting upon community concerns around suspected drug dealing on nearby Whittern Way.

Searches of the van and addresses linked to two men at the scene recovered around 5.4kg of cannabis with an estimated street value of £54,000 and cash totalling nearly £42,000.

Two men, age 40 and 41, were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class B drugs – cannabis and money laundering and have been bailed pending further enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Jim Moore, of Hereford Proactive CID, said: “Yesterday we responded to concerns raised in the community around suspected drug dealing in the Whittern Way area of Hereford.

“We acted swiftly upon those concerns and successfully arrested two men on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class B drugs and money laundering. They are now helping us with our enquiries.

“Taking such a large amount of illegal drugs off the streets and seizing cash suspected to be linked to the dealing is a great result for everyone, and we would like to thank those members of the community who raised the concerns with us so we could step in.

“We hope actions like this help to reassure the public we will always act where appropriate on information given to us to protect them from the harmful impact illegal drugs and the criminality associated with it reap on Hereford and surrounding areas.”
