Information received from our colleagues on the National Rural Crime Unit suggests there has been an increase in the theft of roof mounted GPS units across the country, although we have not experienced this ourselves it is worth bearing in mind when your vehicles are left unattended. If you can, and I appreciate the difficulties in doing so, please consider removing the unit upon completion of any work. Alternatively you could consider fitting a tracking device to the unit, this has proved very successful in other rural areas which has led to the prosecution of offenders.
