OP SCEPTRE Knife crime week... among other things

This week is part of a knife intensification week so I have bene involved in different event/incidents in relation to tackling knife crime.

On 20/05/2025 I spoke with young male who previously had been found with a knife. He was a bit nervous about police turning up but did have a chat with us and he has happily turned his life around and doesn’t carry knives anymore. Always nice to have a good news story after dealing with someone involved in crime.

I have joined the team with surgery’s at Lister Road park and Brintons park as advertised by the team on NEIGHBOURHOOD MATTTERS.

On a another day on patrol by the canal with assistance from the council homeless team I have found four knives, sheers and a hammer. These were found dangerously around a wooded area where a member of the public could find them or hurt themselves. Unknown at this time who the person/s living at the site are.

These dangerous items have been seized and disposed of at Kidderminster Front Counters knife amnesty box.

Remember to dispose of all unwanted knives you have… would you know if one knife went missing? If not consider the fact you may have too many knives. Get them disposed of safely at Kidderminster police station front counter.

If your child is interested in knives or you have any concerns? we are happy to come out have a friendly chat. We can also refer to agencies such as STEER CLEAR, who offer great support to the young people, sharing their knowledge and lived experiences, to keep them safe against knife crime.

An RTC (Road Traffic Collision) occurred on WALTERNASH ROAD on TUESDAY 20th MAY 2025 at around 7:10 pm. If you have seen anything or have CCTV then please let me know. I’m looking to get a full picture of what happened and deal with the people appropriately.

Today we have had a Sunday Stroll, attending all the parks in the area. We have been out walking some of them. I met a lovely male in Brinton Park and he even signed up to NEIGHBOURHOOD MATTERS. So, a big welcome all the new people joining.

So you know you can come and see me and others from the team at Brintons Park, Kidderminster on Friday 30th May 2025. KDYT (Kidderminster District Youth Trust) will be running an event from 12 – 3pm. Weather permitting we will have some clothes to try on, a car for you to look at and to sit in if you want. We will also have safety, crime information and knowledge to pass to you if you have any concerns… possibly also a pen or two that you can have.

Come along and say hey. You can also be famous, if you would like, and have a photo in the next Neighbourhood matters post…. I can hear all the groans from here.

I had a message back last week about a vehicle with no Tax. We have been out and spoken to the owner who is now aware that it is in our sights. It was currently off the road when seen. He now knows to get all the paperwork up to date or it will be taken away! Thank you for the message and keep them coming in.

I hope you are all having a great bank holiday weekend and enjoy the half term away from school. Children, remember to get out, walk about and not play on computers all day!

Until next time be safe
