Keeping your home safe while on holiday

Keep Your Home Safe This Holiday Season

Dear residents

With the holiday season fast approaching, many of us will be heading off for a well-earned break. Whether you're planning a weekend getaway or a longer trip, here are some quick tips to help keep your home secure while you're away:

  • Ask a trusted neighbour or friend to keep an eye out—collect post, move bins, maybe even park in your drive to give the impression someone’s home.
  • Leave a few lights on timers to make your house look lived-in during the evenings.
  • Avoid posting holiday plans or photos online until after you return—you never know who might be watching.
  • Double-check locks on doors, windows, gates, and sheds. Don’t forget to set your alarm if you have one.
  • Consider smart doorbells or security cameras—they’re more affordable than ever and offer peace of mind from anywhere.
  • Let’s look out for one another. If you’re staying in the area, keep an eye open for any suspicious activity and report it to the local police on 101, or 999 in an emergency.

Have a safe and relaxing holiday, wherever you’re headed! 🌞

  • Kind regards
