Witness appeal following distraction theft of handbag full of cash

CAN YOU HELP? | We are appealing for witnesses following a distraction theft in Kidderminster where a woman’s handbag full of cash was stolen.

At approximately 12.50pm on Monday 23 June a woman left her car in Weaver’s Wharf and went to Lloyds Bank on Vicar Street to withdraw cash before returning to her car.

Between 12.58pm and 1pm she was distracted by two men in the car park after placing her handbag, containing £1,000 cash, on the passenger seat.

One man said claimed there was something under the car she should be aware of and while distracted a second man stole her handbag.

He then gave the bag to a third man who put it in a blue carrier bag and walked off up the Mall towards Vicar Street, up Vicar Street and High Street and was seen at the bus stops at Coventry Street / Blackwell Street around 1.02pm.

It is believed the other two men walked towards the canal and turned towards McDonald’s direction on the tow path.

PC Andrew Forbes, of Kidderminster town centre team, said: “We are appealing for witnesses to this distraction theft where a woman’s handbag containing a large quantity of cash was stolen.

“We are looking for any dash cam footage or eyewitnesses to identify any of the men or vehicles involved.

“We would also like to hear from anyone who may have information about the men seen in the hats in the first image and the man with the bag in the second image as we believe they may be able to help us with our enquiries.

“Anyone with information is asked to email the team at  Greenhill.snt@westmercia.pnn.police.uk quoting reference 22/55978/25.”
