Water Safety In Hot Weather

Dear residents

🌞 Stay Safe Near Water This Summer! 💧

With temperatures rising, we know how tempting it can be to cool off in local lakes, rivers, and reservoirs. But as inviting as the water looks, it can be more dangerous than it seems.

🚨 Important Water Safety Tips:

  • Never swim alone or in unfamiliar waters.
  • Reservoirs and lakes may hide strong currents, cold temperatures, and sudden drops.
  • Keep a close watch on children and pets near water—even shallow areas can be risky.
  • Avoid drinking alcohol before or during swimming.
  • If someone’s in trouble, call 999 and ask for the coastguard or fire & rescue—don’t try to rescue them yourself.
  • Let’s enjoy the sunshine, but let’s do it safely. Share this message with your friends and neighbours so everyone can stay safe while staying cool!

    Kind regards
