Speed enforcement - Operation AURORA

Dear all,

Members of your safer neighbourhood team have been out recently conducting a speed enforcement operation along the B4371 going through Wall-Under-Heywood, specifically the 30mph section.

There was a fairly large quantity of traffic seen passing whilst out conducting the operation and I am pleased to say that the majority were abiding by the posted limit of 30mph. Enforcement action will be taken against a minority of drivers who were caught driving in excess of the limit however which is disappointing to see.

The average speed recorded whilst we were out was: 28mph
The highest recorded speed was: 39mph

I'd like to take this as an opportunity to thank road users who have and continue to respect the posted speed limits shown and for the small minority who do exceed the limit - please don't, speeding is one of the 4 main causes that lead to road traffic collisions that result in death or serious injury.

Drivers can receive a minimum fine of £100 and 3 points on their license if they are prosecuted for the offence of speeding.
