Ledbury Walk and Talk success! |
||
On Wednesday 2nd July 2025 I was invited to take part in the Ledbury Walk and Talk event which takes place every Wednesday morning at Ledbury Rugby Club. There is plenty of free parking and the walk always remains within the Rugby Club site.
This friendly and sociable walk offers a couple of options, dependent on mobility and confidence. More confident walkers are able to walk the field, which whilst flat, does vary in terrain and in the winter months can get quite wet and muddy under foot! This route follows the tree line around the edge of the Rugby Club, and walkers are able to complete as many laps as they feel able. There is also the option to walk the flat, paved car park area. Again, this is completed in laps, at a speed comfortable to you, and can be taken as steady as required. Walk and Talk always ends with a warm cuppa inside the Rugby Club (for a £1 donation), where it's also been known for the board games to come out!
I paired up with Chris Lewis who normally keeps to walking the car park, as she has poor mobility and walks with the aid of two sticks, but today she had ventured onto the rugby pitches. We got on great and chatted for ages and soon we were half way round. I learnt that Chris does lots for the local community, including volunteering at Ledbury food bank and the doctor's surgery. She is not a person who gives up and we kept going and were the last walkers back to the clubhouse. Chris had walked the whole circuit (1km) for the first time ever and was overjoyed, I was only too pleased to have helped. I brought Chris a medal and certificate to remember her proud achievement, what a lovely lady. Well done Chris! | ||
