Hot Weather - Cold Water

⚠️ Water Warning | Cold Water Shock 🌊

You are reminded of the dangers of swimming in open water, including rivers, lakes and streams.

On hot days the thought of going for a swim in local rivers, lakes, and streams can be tempting

But it's important to remember the effects of cold water shock

Cold water is defined as any body of water below 15C, so swimming in it can seriously affect the breathing and movement of even the strongest swimmers.

In addition, there are plenty of hazards below the surface, including changing currents and discarded items that can cause serious injuries.

Paramedics love what they do, but the best scenario is no 999 calls at all.

Attending complex water incidents sadly often ends in tragedy. All we want is for everyone to get home safely at the end of the day.
