Water Safety- Ironbridge |
||
Dear Resident, Cuckoo Oak and Ironbridge SNT have been made aware of a recent incident, whereby a teenager required medical treatment after jumping off the Albert Edward Bridge into the River Severn, near to the Ironbridge Rowing Club. Luckily members of the Ironbridge Rowing Club were able to provide initial first aid at the scene before the casualty was conveyed by ambulance to the Princess Royal Hospital for further checks. In light of the above information and the recent spell of warm weather, we are urging parents to educate children around the dangers of open water. Open water doesn’t have depth markings, so it is not possible to know how deep it is, and how far it is to shallow water, the shore, or river bank. This was a main contributing factor to the injury sustained at the weekend.
