Local policing teams to get more 'bobbies on the beat'

More officers to strengthen neighbourhood policing teams across West Mercia

Local policing teams across Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire, and Telford & Wrekin, are to get an extra 29 police constables (five of which will be dedicated Rural Crime Officers), two sergeants and 20 PCSOs.

This follows police officer numbers reaching record levels in 2023, a further 40 through the 23/24 budget, and the launch of 10 dedicated town centre policing teams in 2024

These extra officers, after a long line of investment into local policing, are another example of the PCC's continued focus on keeping communities safe as detailed in his West Mercia Safer Communities Plan.
