Advice for New Drivers

Advice for young drivers

Road Victim's Month is marked in August each year to recognise the ongoing impact of road collisions.

Globally, road traffic collisions are a leading cause of death among young people, and the main cause of death among those aged 15-29 years.

If you know a young person who has recently passed their driving test, make sure to share our advice for driving safely with them.

·  Put your phone on silent to avoid distractions while driving

·  Make sure passengers are not distracting you from the road ahead

·  Always stick to speed limits and do not take risks while overtaking

·  Look out for hazards, particularly on roads and journeys you are not familiar with

Young driver courses are available to help young people gain awareness, experience and skills. Find out more: https://www.gov.uk/pass-plus
