Cold Water Swimming

Cold Water Swimming

🚨 Water Safety Alert  ðŸš¨

While the weather may make open water seem inviting, is not a safe or supervised swimming location.

Risks include:

• Cold water shock – sudden immersion can cause breathing difficulties and heart problems, even for strong swimmers.

• Hidden hazards – sharp objects, discarded debris, or sudden drop-offs under the surface.

• Poor water quality – bacteria and pollutants that can cause illness.

• Slippery and unstable banks – risk of falling in or being unable to climb out.

We are urging parents and carers to check where your children are if they are out near open water. Talk to them about the dangers – even shallow-looking water can be life-threatening. Encourage the use of designated swimming areas with trained lifeguards present.

Our priority is preventing a tragedy before it happens. Please help us spread this message and keep our young people safe.
