Yesterday afternoon at around midday, Pc Mike and PCSO Dave from the Rural North Safer Neighbourhood Team attended an emergency report of a Road Traffic Collison where one vehicle was blocking the road and unable to move.
Upon attendance on the B5070 just outside of St Martins the officers discovered that it had been a rear shunt at the Give Way bridge but thankfully there were no reported injuries and no other emergency services required, with damage caused mostly minimal.
The Jaguar involved which had been hit from behind had gone into “Safe Mode” resulting in it being disabled. After a short time, some assistance from a mechanic and a diagnostics machine the “Safe Mode” was cleared and the vehicle then removed from blocking the road. The Van involved was also moved to a layby further up the road where it was assessed and safely removed to a depot.
A traffic control was put in place for a short time to protect the vehicles and persons involved as well as the officers on scene and we would like to thank motorists affected by the traffic control for being patient during the delays.
We would also like to remind all road users to pay full attention whilst driving on our roads and to anticipate slowing down and / or stop whilst approaching or navigating such road segments and hazards. Let’s keep our roads safe, thank you.
