🛴 E-Scooters - what you need to know! ⚠️

🎁Are you thinking of buying an e-scooter for a loved one this Christmas?

✅ Buying an e-scooter is legal – but riding on roads, pavements, or cycle paths is NOT 

👉 they are only allowed on private land with permission.

⚠️ Why? They’re classed as motor vehicles, so they’d need:

🔹 Tax

🔹 Insurance

🔹 Licence

🔹 MOT

🔹 Number plate

🔹 Lights & indicators
(Most scooters don’t have these!)

👮 If Police Stop You…

Your scooter could be confiscated

You could receive fines & points, such as:
🔹£300 + 6 points – No insurance
🔹£100 + 3–6 points – No license
🔹£50 – Riding on the pavement
🔹£200 + 6 points – Using your phone
🔹£100 – Running a red light

🚫 Alcohol = Same as Drink Driving

You could receive a court fine, driving ban, or even prison.

🤨 Antisocial Use?

Your scooter can be seized under Section 59 Police Reform Act.
