π¨ Dangerous Riding β Arrest Made π¨ |
||
|
On Sunday 5th April, PC 21725 and PCSO 40420 from the Nedge Safer Neighbourhood Team were on patrol when they identified an electric bike being ridden in a dangerous manner in Donnington.
The rider was seen travelling at speed, performing wheelies, and riding in a way that posed a risk to other road users and members of the public. Officers caught up with the rider at an address and the rider was subsequently arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving. The rider has been reported for three traffic offences.
We are continuing to see an increase in the use of electric and off-road style bikes being ridden unlawfully in our communities.
β Legal reminder: Electric bikes (E-bikes) that do not meet EAPC (Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycle) regulations are classed as motor vehicles under UK law. This means they must:
Off-road and βdirtβ bikes are not permitted on public roads, pavements, parks, or open spaces unless authorised.
We will continue to take robust action against those using vehicles in an anti-social or dangerous manner. If you witness similar behaviour in your area, please report it to us. Alternatively, if you have any information in relation to the use of or storage of off -road bike, please email: opspree@westmercia.police.uk
Itβs only by working together that we can tackle these kinds of issues.
Kind regards
The Nedge Safer Neighbourhood Team
