In case you missed the update on Hot Spots Policing |
||
|
Dear Residents,
You may have recently seen an increase in police officers and PCSO's patrolling Oakengates Town and may have missed our update as to why.
We are pleased to inform you that Oakengates is now a hot spots policing area, which means there will be increased patrols around the Oakengates Town.
Hot spots policing is a strategy introduced by the Home Office for reducing crime. It targets resources and activities in specific locations. Officers and PCSO’s spend short, unpredictable periods of time in a concentrated area, on high visibility patrols, in order to increase the perceived risk for offenders.
Studies show that focusing on hot spots can lead to significant reductions in crime and antisocial behaviour. In addition to reducing crime, increased visibility in hot spots can help reassure members of public in areas where they may feel vulnerable.
We hope that this update is welcome news for our community.
Ketley and Oakengates Safer Neighbourhood Team.
