Dear Residents

Neighbourhood Policing Advice – Vehicle Crime Prevention (Matchborough Area)

Following a recent report of a vehicle break-in within the Matchborough area, we would like to remind residents to take simple but effective steps to reduce the risk of becoming a victim of vehicle crime.

Officers are currently making enquiries in relation to this incident; however, we ask the community to remain vigilant and consider the following crime prevention advice:

Vehicle Security Guidance:

Ensure your vehicle is fully secured at all times, even if left unattended for a short period.

Double-check that all doors, windows, and sunroofs are properly closed and locked.

Do not leave valuables on display inside your vehicle, including bags, tools, money, or electronic devices. Remove items entirely where possible.

If items must remain in the vehicle, store them out of sight (e.g. in the boot) prior to arriving at your destination.

Park in well-lit, overlooked areas where possible, or use secure parking.

Consider fitting additional security measures such as steering wheel locks, alarms, or dash cameras.

Keyless Vehicle Owners:

Store keys away from doors and windows.

Use signal-blocking (Faraday) pouches to prevent relay theft.

We also encourage residents to report any suspicious activity, persons, or vehicles in the area at the earliest opportunity.
