Supporting our Armed Forces community
Today marks Armed Forces Day - a time to recognise and support the incredible men and women who serve our country.
The long-standing bond between the Armed Forces and West Mercia Police runs deep, with many officers and police staff joining the police ranks having served in the military or operating as a Reservist.
The democracy and freedoms we enjoy today are built on the courage and sacrifice of those who served. That’s why, almost four years ago, the PCC launched his ‘Pin Your Poppy’ campaign to bring communities together in remembrance and to honour the deep-rooted connection between West Mercia Police and the military.
The PCC also funds the Remember Veterans service, which supports former Armed Forces personnel in their transition back into civilian life, helping them to reintegrate and avoid pathways that lead to crime.
