Burglary crime prevention |
||
|
Dear Resident, With the Summer holidays starting this week and people may be going away We would like to make residents aware that there have been a number of recent burglaries reported in the area. Whilst enquiries are ongoing, we would encourage everyone to remain vigilant and take a few simple steps to help protect their homes and property. Burglars often target properties where they believe there is an easy opportunity to enter unnoticed. By improving security and looking out for one another, we can reduce the risk of further offences. Recent internal crime prevention guidance highlights the importance of securing doors and windows, protecting valuables, using lighting and alarms, and working with neighbours to improve security. Crime Prevention Advice✅ Ensure all doors and windows are locked, even when you are at home. ✅ Double-lock external doors where possible. ✅ Keep keys out of sight and away from letterboxes. ✅ Use alarm systems and ensure they are activated when leaving the property. ✅ Consider installing CCTV, doorbell cameras, or security lighting. ✅ Keep valuable items, vehicle keys, laptops, tablets, and jewellery out of sight. ✅ Secure sheds, garages, gates, and other outbuildings. ✅ Remove tools, ladders, and other items that could be used to gain entry. ✅ Use timer switches on lights when away from home to make your property appear occupied. ✅ If you are going away, ask a trusted neighbour to keep an eye on your property. Report Suspicious ActivityWe ask residents to report any suspicious persons, vehicles, or behaviour in the area. Your information could be vital in helping us identify offenders and prevent further crimes. Thank you for your support. Working together as a community is one of the most effective ways of preventing crime and keeping our neighbourhoods safe. Brandon Jones | ||
