CLOSURE ORDER PONTESBURY |
||
|
A closure order has successfully been secured by Shrewsbury’s Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) for a housing property in Pontesbury. Officers from SNT applied to Telford Magistrates Court for the order on 48 Wray Drive under Section 80 of the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 after neighbours were subjected to two years of disturbances related to the property. Since October 2025 residents of Wray Drive have reported numerous incidents to police, including loud music and shouting throughout the night, trespassing on neighbouring properties, concerns around suspected drug related activity, and intimidating behaviour. Action was taken by Shrewsbury SNT in recent months to address the concerns, but neighbours continued to raise concerns. The closure order was granted on Monday (10 August) and means the residents cannot now return for three months. Sergeant Phil Parke, from the SNT, said: "This closure order is a positive result for the local community, who have had to endure ongoing anti-social behaviour and disruption for a significant period of time. Everyone has the right to feel safe and comfortable in their own home, and we understand the impact this type of behaviour can have on neighbours and the wider community. "We listened to residents’ concerns, gathered evidence, and worked closely with our partners to take action. Closure orders are an important tool that allow us to protect communities from persistent anti-social behaviour, and we will continue to use all powers available to us to tackle issues that matter most to local people. "I would like to thank residents for continuing to report incidents to us, as the information they provided was instrumental in securing this order."
