🚗 Parking Around Schools – Please Park Responsibly 🚗 |
||
|
We have received concerns regarding parking outside local schools during drop-off and collection times.
Many of the issues reported relate to vehicles parking on dropped kerbs and too close to junctions, creating hazards for pedestrians and other road users.
Parking Near Junctions
What This Means • Highway Code Rule 243: Drivers should not park within 10 metres (32 feet) of a junction.
Why This Is a Problem
• Reduced Visibility: Vehicles parked near junctions can make it difficult for drivers to see approaching traffic, particularly around busy school areas.
Our Message to Parents and Visitors
We understand that school drop-off and collection times can be busy, but we ask everyone to park legally, safely and considerately. A few extra moments spent finding a suitable parking space can make a significant difference to the safety of children, pedestrians and other road users. The Safer Neighbourhood Team has provided information to the school regarding parking regulations, and we will continue to monitor the situation when operational commitments allow.
Please help us keep our school communities safe by parking responsibly.
Thank you for your cooperation.
